Horizon 2020

Demand Response in Block of Buildings (DR-BoB) is a project co-funded by the European Union within Horizon 2020 program for research and innovation. The partners of the project are bodies and companies present in the European area that are specialized in the research within energy, building sectors, environmental sustainability and implementation of hardware and software solutions dedicated to building automation.
The project is aimed at proving the economic and environmental benefits that can be achieved in time management of energy loads in complex structures (building blocks). A reschedule of energy loads aimed at reducing absorption peaks would allow a decrease in the investments needed to oversize energy production and distribution infrastructures:  the economic benefits resulting from these operations can be shared with energy users and then exploited for promoting energy efficiency or  renewable energy sources.

DR-BoB  project will identify  useful instruments and techniques within contexts characterized by “blocks” of buildings present in four pilot sites:

  • Two public university campus (Teesside University in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom and Technical University of  Cluj Napoca, Romania);
  • A technology park (Nobatek ad Anglet, France);
  • A hospital complex (Fondazione Poliambulanza in  Brescia, Italia).

Fondazione Poliambulanza,  since always involved in the sustainability of its investments and safeguard of the surrounding environment,  actively participates in this European project  in the belief  that an hospital, as complex and energy-intensive structure, may complete the panel of bodies selected for such project and, at the same time, may also obtain energy saving instruments and methods that will enable to devote resources to new and future projects  that our Foundation intends to achieve.
