Waiting lists

Lombardy Region, pursuing the economic balance of the Regional Health Care Service, has established a maximum contribution to financing hospitalization and outpatient treatments beyond which the services provided shall not be paid. Despite these limitations, Fondazione Polimbulanza, being a non-profit organization which doesn’t use its income to further achieve its purpose or mission, actually provides services for about 40 million Euros per year, going beyond the budget allocated and without being reimbursed for its expenses in the public service, so as to better meet the citizens’ specific needs. In such a context, the waiting times result from a discrepancy between users’ requests and the physiological limits imposed by the management. Obviously, it does not affect private services which shall not be subject to a fixed budged since they do not comply with the public sector policy.
